That darn space.

Remember that time that I told you that our last name is confusing.  My "space or no space" post was a foreshadow of what happened this past week.  Our name has really confused the heck out of people in Ethiopia and rightly so, since Dave and I are even confused about it :)  This past week two things happened, both with our last name.  

1.  We received a copy of his birth certificate and his name on it was "Fraol David Winkle."  They forgot the Van.  I learned that there aren't enough spaces on their page to put Van Winkle (with a space) so they are going to change it to VanWinkle (without a space).  I'm pretty sure they don't have names with a space in them in Ethiopia.  Also, his birth certificate photo is one of my favorite pictures.  I can't stop looking at it, seriously.

2.  I got an email saying the US Embassy in Ethiopia couldn't locate our file in their database.  After being slightly panicked and a few phone calls we figured out that it was "Van Minkle" in their system.

Sorry Ethiopia for such a confusing name.  All that to say, I totally jinxed us!
